Our Approach to Materials
Customer Choice
At SmartHyve, we believe that smart technology is widely available and that many customers will choose to DIY their projects when and if they can. For that reason we DO NOT do markup material costs!
We buy our products from the same places our customers do (Amazon, Best Buy, etc). We invite our customer to buy the products themselves or we can do the purchasing for their convenience. If customers would prefer for us to acquire the materials, we will charge the respective product area hourly rate to order, receive, and unpackage products. This rate also applies to products RMAs. When customers choose to purchase products on their own, they must first consult with our team to confirm the proper product is being selected for proper installation, configuration, and supportability.
Advocates for DIY
At SmartHyve, we encourage our customers to take ownership of their projects and solutions. We understand that certain consumer products are easier to install than others and that its best if the customer can learn to manage their technology on their own over time. This is why we invite our customers to purchase their products on their own so that they can create their own accounts, build brand loyalty, enjoy certain cost savings, and directly own their manufacturers warranty should they choose. At SmartHyve we do not want to lock customers into any long term contracts or support agreements. We want to foster wide consumer adoption of technology and meet the customer where they are at.
